Max OTT release date: Days after the television premiere of the Vijay Kartikeyaa-directed Sudeep starrer was announced, there is a streaming date too.

Kiccha Sudeep’s Max, the Christmas release that became the highest grosser of 2024, was the most awaited OTT release in the new year. Considering that it's theatrical run slowed down massively after the third week, the expectation was that it would drop on OTT by the end of January. But there was no sign of the film then. Instead, a television premiere was announced.
This had led to speculation that the OTT rights of Max had not been sold, which the makers quickly clarified. The satellite and digital rights of Max were with Zee Network, with Zee Kannada and Zee5 as the destinations. A TV premiere date was also announced with February 15, 7.30 pm the slot. It was then said that the OTT release would be a week later on February 22, which fans did not like. This was not officially confirmed and a little while ago, the news that fans were eagerly waiting for came from the horse’s mouth.

Zee Network will have the TV premiere and OTT outing of Max on the same day, February 15, at the same time, giving audiences the option to watch it on the screen of their choice.

Max, directed by debutant Vijay Kartikeyaa and produced by Kalaippuli S Thanu, was Sudeep’s first release in over 2 years, his last being 2022’s Vikrant Rona. The film was expected to be a quick turnaround, given that the story unfolds over one night and that they were shooting at a set in Mahabalipuram, but adverse weather in Chennai caused delays.
The film was ready by mid-2024 and a theatrical release closer to Sudeep’s birthday was expected. But that did not happen and for a while, there was radio silence from the makers about the release.
Eventually, when it was announced as a Christmas release, only 5 days after Upendra’s UI, Kannada film aficionados wondered why they’d clash at the box office.
In the film, Sudeep plays a police officer, Arjun Mahakshay, aka Max, who is set to take charge at his station after a brief suspension. On the night before, his subordinates apprehend a couple of goons, whose arrest causes a major issue. How Max solves in one night forms the gist of the story. The film also stars Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Sunil, Samyukta Hornad, Ugramm Manju, and Sukrutha Wagle, among others.
