After a very long wait, fans of Kannada superstar Kiccha Sudeep finally got the good news that his next film, Max, which is his 46thproject, will be in theatres for Christmas. The film, directed by debutante Vijay Kartikeyaa and produced by Kalaippuli S Thanu will release in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi, the team has announced.
Max, according to reports, has closed its satellite and digital rights business with Zee Network for Rs 28 cr. While it was initially said that the amount was only for the TV rights, it is now heard that it is for the digital rights as well. As such, Max will be on Zee5 after its theatrical run, much like Sudeep’s last release, Vikrant Rona. That film dropped on the platform in a little over a month after its theatrical outing. Max may also follow suit and settle for an on or after 30-days deal.
Max has Sudeep playing a cop called Arjun Mahakshay and follows the events that happen one night after he resumes work following a brief suspension. The film, we are told, is a tad under 2 and a half hours in run-time, and is said to be action-packed. The team has been tight-lipped about the subject, but months ago, a synopsis of the film was floated on social media, which had given rise to speculation that the story is similar to that of Ravi Teja’s Krack. A source from the team, however, maintains that Vijay Kartikeyaa is presenting an original story.
The film, which has music by Ajaneesh Loknath, also stars Vamshi, Sunil, Pramod Shetty, Samyukta Hornad, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Sukrutha Wagle, among others. Sudeep, who is currently in the midst of hosting Bigg Boss Kannada Season 11, is expected to kickstart promotions of the film on December 1.
