Max on OTT: Kannada superstar Kiccha Sudeep’s latest, Max, which was released in theatres on December 25, will be on OTT shortly.

The theatrical release date of Kiccha Sudeep’s Max, which dropped on December 25, was a decision that the production house had taken because of certain business interests, the actor, who is also credited as co-producer had said. This was Sudeep’s explanation as to why his film was ‘clashing’ with Upendra’s UI. Max was, after all, meant to have been in theatres much earlier, and could have, eventually, been pushed as an early 2025 outing.
The call to release it in late December is said to be because of commitments with satellite and digital partners. And the latest buzz is that Max is likely to be available for streaming shortly. The satellite and digital rights of Max are said to be with Zee Network, with the platform, which had also picked up Sudeep’s last, Vikrant Rona, said to be looking at premiering it on streaming shortly after the 30-day mark. As of now, it is being reported that Max will be on ZEE5 on or before January 31, 2025.
The film, produced by Kalaippuli S Thanu and directed by debutant Vijay Kartikeyaa, had a good run in its first week at the box office but slowed down in the second week. With the Sankranti/Pongal big-ticket releases from Telugu and Tamil set to hit theatres in the coming days, this is expected to fall further, which is why an early OTT release is likely to be on the cards for Max.

In the film, the story of which transpires in the 12 hours between 7 pm and 7 am, Sudeep plays Inspector Arjun Mahakshay, who springs into action to safeguard the station he takes charge at the following day, and his subordinates, after the arrest of two dangerous and well-connected guys goes south.
Max also stars Ugramm Manju, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Samyukta Hornad, Sukrutha Wagle, Pramod Shetty, Redin Kingsley, Vijay Chendoor, Sunil, Ilavarasu, among others.
