Kiccha Sudeep’s Max was widely thought to be a January OTT release, following its successful theatrical outing. But much like its theatre release, which was rumored to be in September 2024 and eventually happened only for Christmas, there was no sign of Max on OTT in January. The buzz was that it would be on Zee5, but after a Zee Kannada television premiere promo came out, it was said that the digital streaming rights of the film had remained unsold and that the makers were still shopping it around.
For quite a while, Zee Network has only been procuring satellite rights, while digital rights remained up for grabs. It was, therefore, thought that Max, like Bhairathi Ranagal, could be headed to Amazon Prime Video and Zee Kannada. But sources now tell us that both the OTT rights and satellite were picked up by Zee Network and that the film will be on Zee5 shortly. February 22 is the tentative date that is being heard for the film to drop on the platform, but a source says that it could be earlier too.

Max, produced by Kalaippuli S Thanu and directed by Vijay Kartikeyaa, was a theatrical hit and is, according to trackers, the highest-grossing Kannada film of 2024. Leading man Sudeep is the beneficiary of the theatrical spoils, while Thanu takes the non-theatrical revenue. The film was Sudeep’s first release since 2022’s Vikrant Rona and had him in cop mode in a story that takes place in one night.
Sudeep played the title character Max, short for Arjun Mahakshay, who gets caught in a high-tension situation on the night before he is set to resume duty following a brief suspension. With the lives of his colleagues on the balance, Max has to step in and figure out how to protect them and their near-and-dear ones.
