Mathagam teaser: Atharvaa, Manikandan headline Hotstar's high-octane crime drama that spans the night

We had reported earlier that Atharvaa is playing the lead in Mathagam, a Hotstar original that will be released soon. The makers have unveiled its teaser now, offering a glimpse into its genre and backdrop. The series is a crime drama that revolves around a cat-and-mouse game between cops and a couple of criminals.

Manikandan, too, plays the lead in the project that stars Nikhila Vimal and Dhivyadharshni essaying important characters. Prasath Murugesan of Queen and Kidari fame has directed the series. 

Screen Scene has bankrolled Mathagam which has cinematography by Edwin Sakay and music by Darbuka Siva. Praveen Antony has edited the series that has action scenes choreographed by Dhilip Subbarayan. Suresh Kallery is at the helm of art direction. It will be released in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, Marathi and Bengali languages.

The makers are expected to announce its release date along with the trailer in a few weeks' time. It's after a short hiatus that Hotstar is coming up with a series in Tamil. Atharvaa's last OTT project was Netflix's Navarasa while Manikandan's previous direct-to-OTT outing was Jai Bhim. 

Manikandan is basking in the success of Good Night which started streaming on Hotstar earlier this month. Atharvaa is yet to have a theatrical release this year. He has Thanal, Address and Nirangal Moondru awaiting release soon.

Mathagam marks the second collaboration between director Prasath and Nikhila after Kidaari. The latter was seen in the super hit film Por Thozhil recently.
