The makers of Mathagam unveiled its teaser a few weeks ago and offered a glimpse into the project's plot. Billed as a gangster drama, it revolves around the conflict between cops and a few dreaded gangsters. The web series helmed by Prasath Murugesan of Queen and Kidari fame stars Atharvaa and Manikandan in lead roles.
Gautham Menon, Nikhila Vimal, Dhivyadharshini and Ilavarasu among others play important characters in the project that delves deep into the nexus between cops and gangsters in Chennai. How a bunch of sincere cops set out to track down a few gangsters forms the rest of the story.
The team has now come up with its trailer as well. The promo video offers more insight into the action-packed story. Edwin Sakay and Praveen Antony have handled cinematography and editing respectively for the series. Dhilip Subbarayan's action sequences are touted to be a prime highlight of the project.
Darbuka Siva, who turned a filmmaker last year with Mudhal Nee Mudivum Nee, has composed music for Mathagam. It will be released in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, Marathi and Bengali languages.
Mathagam will drop on Disney+ Hotstar on August 18. This is the first direct-to-OTT release on Hotstar for Atharvaa. Manikandan's previous outing, Good Night, was released on the platform a few weeks ago. The project is the second release for Nikhila Vimal this year after the hit flick Por Thozhil.
Atharvaa has Thanal, Address and Nirangal Moondru in his kitty while Manikandan has signed an untitled project with Kanna Ravi and Sri Gouri Priya the other day.
