After the success of Aju Varghese and Lal's Kerala Crime Files, Disney+ Hotstar has announced another Malayalam web series titled Masterpeace. The series, which is helmed by Oru Thekkan Thallu Case director Sreejith N and produced by Mathew George, has a bevy of stars attached to it.

Nithya Menen, who plays the female lead in the series, shared the first look poster of the series that also has Sharafudheen, Shanthi Krishna, Renji Panicker, Ashokan and Maala Parvathi. Nithya is probably the only star in the cast, who had previously acted in a web series. The actress was previously part of Amazon Prime Video’s Breathe: Into the Shadows and has also completed shooting for Kumari Srimathi in Telugu.

The series, which is touted to be a comedy that could be enjoyed by the family audience, will also begin streaming in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Bangla and Marathi when it drops on the platform. Disney+ Hotstar is yet to announce the official release date of the web series, but it could be set for a September release.

This year, the platform had debuted its first ever Malayalam web series with Kerala Crime Files. The show, which was helmed by Madhuram and June director Ahammed Khabeer and produced by Kho Kho director Rahul Riji Nair, had won praise after it was released a few months ago. The crime-thriller also served to introduce the Malayalam audience to the web series format.

Meanwhile, Sony LIV is also set to release a Malayalam web series with Saiju Kurup and Suhasini in the lead. The series titled Jai Mahendran is a social satire, which is written by Rahul Riji Nair and will have six episodes just like Kerala Crime Files.
