With the day of its release getting closer and the excitement increasing, the audience and participants of MasterChef India Season 7 are eager to know how the three celebrity chefs and judges will choose the next best chef in the country.

In a special conversation with OTTplay, Garima Arora, the first Indian female Michelin-star chef, shares what the one must-have quality she is looking for in a master chef.

Garima told OTTplay, "One of the most important qualities that I am looking for in a master chef is discipline. You can teach technique and cooking skills. One can read up on the scientific side of food, but without discipline, one cannot really work in the kitchen. And at times, it is because of discipline and the attitude toward work that makes you successful in the long run. Cooking is a very obvious skill that we look for in a chef; you either can cook or you cannot. But with the combination of hard work and passion, you learn and practice to make it big."

"Within five minutes, a chef can tell you if you can cook or not, but without being mindful and staying focused, you cannot become a master chef," she added. Apart from being a celebrated chef, Garima also owns the restaurants Gaa in Bangkok.

Garima is the first female chef to judge MasterChef India. The other judges of Season 7 are much-celebrated chefs Vikas Khanna and Ranveer Brar.

The cooking reality show gives an opportunity to home chefs from various parts of the country, across age groups, to show their cooking skills. A master chef is chosen based on talent and performance in several rounds of elimination. The winner gets his/her own cookery show, a chance to publish their cookbook and also a cash prize.

The show will start on January 2, 2023, on SonyLIV and Sony Entertainment Television.
