Maryade Prashne – one of the Kannada films releasing in theatres on November 22 – has been written by RJ Pradeepa of Sakkath Studio, along with Nagaraj Somayaji, who has directed it. The film revolves around a class struggle in Namma Bengaluru, pitting the middle class of Chamarajpet against the upper class of the Koramangala-Indiranagar belt. Representing the middle class are three friends played by Suneel Raoh, Rakesh Adiga, and Poorna Mysore.
Suneel is Sathisha, a food delivery agent for Zomato, while Rakesh is Suri, a lowly cadre for a political party with high ambitions, and Poorna is Manja, a cab driver. Sathisha, according to the makers, is the catalyst of the whole tale. He’s educated but does not get a job befitting his qualifications. But instead of moping around, he decides to take the bull by its horns and restarts his life as a food delivery agent.
“Every human being has certain hopes about life; Sathisha personifies hope. He’s seen failure, but he hasn’t failed – that’s what he stands for. Sathisha’s the perfect son and loves his family – his father, mother, and sister Lakshmi aka Lucky (Teju Belawadi). Sathisha is one of the strongest pillars of his pillars, a character that has been written beautifully. I was very happy to have been given the opportunity to give life to this character,” says Suneel, in a promotional video about the film.
Sathisha, according to director Nagaraj, is an innocent guy, and Suneel, not only brought that out in how he behaves but also in how he looks, making him the perfect choice for the character. Sathisha is a character that Suneel and the rest of the team believe will strike a chord with audiences, as the most relatable of them all. “It is not true that good cinema is not being made in the Kannada film industry and Maryade Prashne is a befitting response to those who say so,” says Suneel.
