Mark Antony: Vishal, SJ Suryah's gangster drama zooms past THIS impressive feat at the box office

Mark Antony hit the headlines frequently for various reasons ahead of its release on September 15. The movie's theatrical release looked doubtful when Lyca Productions requested the Madras High Court to stay the makers' plan as Vishal owes the production house a huge sum.

However, the verdict from the court offered respite to the film's team. The trailer of the action drama helmed by Adhik Ravichandran left cinephiles intrigued, and they were eager to watch it on the big screen. The movie opened to positive responses from critics and film enthusiasts. It also registered the biggest opening in Vishal's career.

Producer Vinod Kumar, who was upbeat about its box office performance, has been updating the film's collections on his Twitter page. It is after a long time that a Tamil producer revealed the figures in a transparent manner.

After its four-day run, the movie grossed 50 crores and is on the way to becoming the highest-grosser in Vishal's career. Irumbu Thirai, which was released in 2018, remains his current biggest film. The public holiday on Monday helped the movie receive impressive footfalls across Tamil Nadu.

Suryah is the backbone behind the film

Though a few aspects have contributed to the movie's success, it is the rip-roaring performance of Suryah that has helped the film sustain its momentum till the end. His enthusiastic appearance, funny antics and one-liners bring the house down, proving yet another time that he is a monstrous actor.

GV Prakash's loud, but effective music is another aspect that has made Mark Antony an enthralling experience. Amazon Prime has bagged its digital rights. Its OTT premiere is likely to happen in the third week of October.
