It looks like Vishal's time travel film, Mark Antony will be the solo Tamil release for this Vinayagar Chaturthi as Raghava Lawrence's Chandramukhi 2 is officially out of the race. The move has come as a huge advantage for Vishal, who is desperately looking for a hit after his last few films didn't really make a dent at the box office
Chandramukhi 2 out of Chaturthi race
The makers of Chandramukhi 2 officially announced last evening that they are out of the Vinayagar Chaturthi race. Lyca Productions, which is bankrolling the film, wrote on their social media handle, "Chandramukhi-2 release date has been pushed to September 28 due to technical delays. Vettaiyan & Chandramukhi will be back fiercer than ever. See you at the theatres with an extra special treat (sic)."
Before the official announcement, social media was abuzz with the news that the film's release was pushed to September 28 as the team was yet to complete the VFX work. The trailer of Chandramukhi2 met with a lukewarm response from the audience and many stated that P Vasu was trying to bring back the magic of the Rajinikanth and Jyotika film (Chandramukhi, which released in 2005). The only character retained from the original is that of Vadivelu.
It's advantage Vishal
The move has come as a huge fillip to Vishal, who is desperately looking for a hit after his last few films, Laththi, Veerame Vaagai Soodavum, Chakra, Action, Ayogya and Sandakozhi 2, didn't really set the cash registers ringing. With all the screens reserved for Vishal's film, the actor can easily cash in on the festive release.
Mark Antony trailer, a massive hit
In the meantime, the trailer of Mark Antony has received a huge thumbs up from the audience . Vishal and SJ Suryah are said to be playing gangsters in the film, who travel back and forth in time, using a time machine. As they use the machine to take revenge on their nemesis, will they be able to succeed in their mission? The punch dialogues by Vishal and SJ Suryah in the trailer have already become a huge hit and Mark Antony might just be the film that Vishal is looking for to end the bad run.
