That Unni Mukundan’s Marco is making waves across Kerala is not surprising. But looks like the echoes of Marco’s success are even reaching Bollywood. Senior filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma, who has helmed several acclaimed Hindi films including Satya, has now commented about the brutal actioner of Unni Mukundan. The leading man of Malayalam’s most violent film has also responded to the comment and it’s all about mutual respect and appreciation.
Satya director Ram Gopal Varma seems to have taken note of the raving reviews that Marco has garnered. Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday morning, RGV wrote “Never heard MORE SHOCKING PRAISE for ANY FILM more than #Marco film ..DYING TO SEE IT , and I hope I too won’t get killed by @Iamunnimukundan.”
Shortly after RGV posted the comment on X, Marco’s lead hero also responded to the senior filmmaker and also admitted that he is a 'diehard Satya fan'. Unni Mukundan, who is set to be the action superstar from Malayalam, wrote, “Thank you Sir. The team is eagerly looking forward to see your feedback. I’m also a diehard Satya fan ☺️ @RGVzoomin.”
For the unversed, Unni Mukundan plays the lead role in the action-packed movie that is in fact based on the Marco character from the film Mikhael. Nivin Pauly starred in the lead role in the 2019 film. Haneef Adeni directed both Marco and Mikhael.
Marco was released in theatres on December 20, 2024, and has seen a tremendous response. The film is set to release in Telugu states from January 1, 2025, where it looks to continue its successful run.
Jagadish and Abhimanyu Thilakan play the ruthless villains in this film that has both shocked and impressed the movie-goers in Kerala with its relentless violence. Siddique, Kabir Duhan Singh, and Anson Paul are also part of the cast.

On the other hand, Ram Gopal Varma’s 1998 film Satya, which gained a cult status over the years, is set to re-release in cinemas in 2025. The film, which starred JD Chakravarthy, Manoj Bajpayee, and Urmila Matondkar, will return to the theatres on January 17, 2025.
