When Malayalam actor Unni Mukundan was promoting his latest, Marco, he skipped Bengaluru, even though the film was supposedly getting a Kannada version release. He had released a Kannada teaser earlier. However, when the film hit theatres on December 20, only the Malayalam original and the Hindi-dubbed versions were available to audiences in Karnataka. The film is said to have grossed a little under Rs 5 crore in Karnataka and now, Unni is looking at some more of the market share with a Kannada-dubbed version.

Marco Kannada version release

Late last night, Unni took to social media to announce that after receiving a phenomenal response worldwide, Marco is set to arrive in Kannada. A Bangalore Kumar Films release, the Kannada-dubbed version of Marco will release on January 31, 2025. His post garnered mixed response from audiences, some of who had already seen the Malayalam original and wondered why the Kannada version was delayed and arriving at a time when the film’s OTT release is expected.

There was a section that was keenly waiting to see the film in Kannada and exhorting audiences to catch this version in theatres. The film, say sources, is expected to do well in its Kannada version, despite the A certification and extreme violence. This despite the fact that the film has been widely pirated.

Marco, meanwhile, has broken into the Rs 100 crore club, with Rs 150 crore also likely if the Kannada version clicks, reckon fans, who think the film will appeal to those who liked Yash as Rocky Bhai in KGF.
