The motion poster of actor Unni Mukundan’s upcoming film, Marco, has been released. A spin-off of the 2019 Nivin Pauly starrer Mikhael, Marco is directed by Haneef Adeni. Unni will reprise his role as Marco Jr, a cold-blooded gangster, in the new crime thriller movie.
Unni Mukundan is ruthless in the first look of Marco
In the poster, Unni is seen wielding a sword, with gold biscuits and dismembered body parts scattered in the backdrop. Smoking a cigarette, he is seated in a chair that resembles a throne. The monochromatic poster is accompanied by eerie music that conveys the fear-inducing nature of Marco’s character. The background score used here is the original theme song of Marco’s character in Mikhael.
Sharing the poster on social media, the actor wrote, “You’ve seen his villainous side! Now witness his heroic actions!!!” The makers promise that the spin-off will be an adrenaline-filled rollercoaster ride with high-octane action sequences. They believe that this marks the first time in Indian cinema that a villain makes a comeback as a hero in a spin-off. The film is produced by Shareef and Abdul Gafhaf, under the banner of Cubes Entertainments.
Marco, a spin-off of Mikhael
Mikhael tells the story of a brother’s attempt to save his sister from a revenge attack. The ruthless villain, Marco Jr (Unni), seeks vengeance for his brother’s death. He is portrayed as a stylish antagonist and an underworld gangster. Despite the lukewarm box office performance of the film, Marco Jr’s portrayal caught people’s attention. The actor, who hasn’t attempted many villain characters in his career, successfully brought Marco Jr to life. In the spin-off, director Haneef will portray Marco Jr as the hero.
Unni Mukundan’s upcoming projects
Unni is both acting in and producing Jai Ganesh, directed by Ranjith Sankar. Among his other upcoming releases are Kadhikan, Mindiyum Pranjum, Yamaha and Nedulan. Additionally, he will collaborate with director Vinayan for the sequel to the 2006 film Athbutha Dweepu.
