Unni Mukundan’s Marco saw its major slump after its theatrical release this Monday, with the movie fetching only Rs 1.65 Cr on Day 11. This was a surprise, considering that the Malayalam film’s Hindi version had got more screens over the past weekend.
This takes the movie’s total collection to Rs 37.35 Cr, according to industry tracking website Sacnilk. Marco, according to reports, had played in over 500 screens in North India and this also contributed significantly to its Day 11 collections – with the Hindi dubbed version fetching Rs 0.50 Cr.

Considering that it’s a weekday, a drop was expected. But this was almost 46% dip, especially after having a massive weekend. The Haneef Adeni directorial, which also has Kabir Duhan Singh, had collected Rs 3.1 Cr on Sunday. Marco’s highest single-day collecton in India was its first Sunday, when it grossed Rs 5.2 Cr.
The makers, however, will still be aiming for Rs 100 Cr in worldwide collections, with Marco’s Telugu and Tamil versions lined up to hit theatres on January 1 and January 3, respectively. The film has so far grossed close to Rs 70 Cr worldwide.
Though not officially confirmed, rumours suggested that the makers have sold the OTT rights of Marco, in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada, to Netflix and the streaming platform was expected to release the movie on OTT after its theatrical run. However, sources from the team told OTTplay that the OTT rights of the movie is yet to be sold.
In a recent interview, Unni had said that the team were happy that the movie had “travelled so far” and got the reach that it did. Marco’s Hindi version is now the highest-grossing dubbed version of a Malayalam movie in North India. It has so far collected Rs 2.38 Cr. The previous record was held by Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Aadujeevitham, which had collected Rs 42 lakh.
