Manu Charitra is an action romance predominantly set in Warangal. The film, written and directed by Bharath Peddagani, faced several production delays over a couple of years and revolves around a college-going youngster whose self-destructive violent streak wreaks havoc on his life. Narala Srinivas Reddy bankrolled the film under Proddutur Talkies.
Cast
Shiva Kandukuri plays the titular character - Manu Durgaraj and the film is centred on the highs and lows in his journey. Megha Akash, Pragathi Shrivastav, Priya Vadlamani play his love interests in the actioner. Daali Dhananjaya is the antagonist while the supporting cast comprises Srikanth Iyengar, Madhu Nandhan, Harishita Chowdary, Garima Kaushal and Suhas.
Trailer, Story
The film’s trailer was unveiled by Das Ka Dhamki actor-director Vishwak Sen nearly a week ago. The trailer showcases the life of Manu Durgaraj, a fun-loving youngster, who falls in love with Jennifer, his college mate, but faces parental opposition later.
He goes onto woo multiple women and breaks up with them quickly. He takes up a path of violence and his self-destructive approach worries his near and dear. What triggers Duragaraj’s transformation? On the whole, the film promises to be a commercial fare with a mix of love, action, humour and strong emotions.
Budget
While the makers of the film haven’t revealed the budget of the action-romance yet, it is expected to be around Rs 3-4 crores and has been mostly filmed in Warangal. Apart from a few sets, several sequences were shot in real streets, locations in Warangal contributing to its authenticity.

A behind-the-scenes video of a dance sequence featuring Shiva Kandukuri and a group of youngsters in the middle of a busy street in Warangal caught the attention of film buffs a couple of years ago.
Release date
Manu Charitra is all set to hit theatres worldwide on June 23.
OTT partner
The team is yet to confirm any details of its streaming partner yet but a leading OTT platform is expected to stream the film in a month’s time.
Other trivia
The film is based on true incidents that the director has witnessed in Warangal and the latter got the actor Shiva Kandukuri to meet the real-life characters for inspiration as well. RX100 star Kartikeya graced Manu Charitra’s pre-release event. This is Megha Akash’s only Telugu release after Ravanasura in 2023. Gopi Sundar scored the music for it while crew comprises editor Prawin Pudi, cinematographer Rahul Shrivatsav and art director Upendar Reddy.
