Manoj Bharathiraja, who made a much-hyped acting debut in 1999 with Taj Mahal, went on to act in a few movies until Karthi-starrer Viruman which was released last year. Legendary filmmaker-turned-actor Bharathiraja, who directed his son's acting debut, is now donning the greasepaint for a character in the latter's directorial debut.
Director Suseenthiran's Vennila Productions is bankrolling the untitled project which has music by GV Prakash. The former took to his social media page to express happiness on the movie and posted a picture along with Mani Ratnam. The Ponniyin Selvan filmmaker paid a visit to them and wished success.
A few days ago, Mani had paid a visit to Bharathiraja's home to officially invite him for the audio launch of Ponniyin Selvan 2 which is expected to happen in a few days. Movie buffs are curious to know how Manoj is going to present his father in his debut directorial venture.
The details regarding its title and other cast of the movie will be announced soon in an official manner. The team has revealed a picture of Manoj explaining a situation to Bharathiraja and the latter is seen listening to the debut director explaining a scene.
Bharathiraja, who was last seen in a cameo in Dhanush's Vaathi, played a notable character in Thiruchitrambalam along with the actor last year. Their chemistry was one of the highlights of the film helmed by Mithran R Jawahar. Kuttram Kuttrame, Eeswaran and Rocky were other movies which had the Iyakkunar Imayam essaying key characters in recent times.
He was in the news a few weeks ago when he released a video praising the makers of Vaathi for handling a socially relevant theme with sincerity.
