Manoj Bajpayee’s mother Geeta Devi passed away on Thursday morning, at the age of 80. Devi had reportedly been admitted to a hospital in Delhi 20 days ago following an illness, and had breathed her last on December 8 at 8:30 AM. She is survived by Bajpayee, and his five siblings.

According to a report in The Telegraph, Devi had been admitted to the Max Super Speciality Hospital, as per a statement released by the actor’s spokesperson. The actor was reportedly with his mother when she breathed her last. The actor’s father, R.K. Bajpayee, had passed away last year in October, at the age of 83.

Bajpayee’s last big screen release had come in the form of the Abhishek Sharma directorial Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari (2020), which starred Diljit Dosanjh and Fatima Sana Shaikh. Bajpayee's last film came in the form of Rensil D'Silva’s Dial 100, a ZEE5 film.

The actor had returned for the second season of the Amazon Prime Video web series, The Family Man, and had also appeared in a segment of the Netflix anthology series Ray.

Bajpayee’s upcoming projects include the Netflix series Soup, directed by Abhishek Chaubey, which will see the former share the screen with Konkona Sen Sharma for the first time. Nasser, Sayaji Shinde, and Lal also feature in Soup.

The actor also has Rahul V Chittella’s directorial Gulmohar, starring Sharmila Tagore, Suraj Sharma, Kaveri,Simran Rishi Bagga and Utsavi Jha, in the pipeline. Bajpayee will also be seen in Joram, written and directed by Devashish Makhija, the first look from which had been released recently. He will also be seen in the ZEE5 courtroom drama Bandaa, directed by Apoorv Singh Karki. The actor is also currently filming for Despatch.
