After a brief theatrical run, Joram dropped to Prime Video, where it is available for rent. Now, after reportedly not finding any takers on OTT platforms, the Manoj Bajpayee-starring film has been dropped on YouTube, where viewers can stream it for free. Devashish Makhija's survival thriller follows a man and his young child as they escape the forces seeking his death and the specters of his past.

The storyline of Joram

In this nail-biting survival thriller, a distraught mother seeks merciless retribution, a cop reluctantly pursues them, and a father and his baby daughter on the run from a system that wants them destroyed no matter what come together in the bloody aftermath of 'development' and a devastated forest.

Along with Manoj, Joram also stars Zeeshan Ayyub and Smita Tambe in pivotal roles.

The release of Joram came one week after the releases of the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Animal and the Vicky Kaushal-starring biopic Sam Bahadur.

Manoj Bajpayee on Joram's box office battle

Manoj had earlier spoken with News18, where he discussed the competition between Joram and these two films, saying that they knew that Animal and Sam Bahadur were two very big films. This revealed that Joram had little chance of making it to the box office, as both films were very expensive. A lot of people were and are excited about Animal. However, due to Joram's unique genre and the limited resources available for its promotion, they were unable to spend so much on the film.

Their film aimed to avoid overloading the audience. When it came to it, they were dead serious and pragmatic. They were realistic about Joram's circumstances and limitations. Manoj went on to say that this was the reason there was less of a need to turn a profit. The purity of the film has been compromised, according to the actor, who has already voiced his criticism of the overemphasis on box office data. The actor has long believed that the fixation on box office has destroyed their country's filmmaking culture. He has also always spoken out against this obsession. The actor also said that it isn't ethical to hurl numbers at people.

Director Devashish Makhija's financial struggles

Meanwhile, in an interview with Pranav Chokhani, Makhija said that he is having trouble paying rent and is currently unable to purchase even a bicycle. He claims that he has not earned a single penny in his career and is currently sitting on about twenty unproduced projects due to a lack of interest. He remarked that he didn't grasp the importance of balancing art and commerce until much later in his career. He lamented that he was unable to purchase a bicycle despite being over 40 years old.
