The Malayalam film Manjummel Boys finally hit the big screen today (February 22). Film enthusiasts regarded the project as highly anticipated after the cast and crew were revealed, even though the makers did not make any grand claims.
People's expectations for the director, Chidambaram, and the remaining cast—Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, Balu Varghese, Jean Lal, and Chandu Salimkumar—were raised by the posters and trailer. With the option to pre-book beginning on February 20, the movie made over 1.47 crore from advance sales alone.
On Twitter, people are expressing their appreciation to the Manjummel Boys team. While many praised the director for raising the bar for survival thrillers in Malayalam cinema, the majority of them were enthralled by the breathtaking visuals and innovative filmmaking techniques that elevate the cinematic experience.
Numerous people have also referred to the movie as another hit for music director Sushin Shyam, whose background score and soundtrack are well-chosen and leave a lasting impression on viewers.
In addition, some have forecast that Manjummel Boys will be a box office success this year and that February has been fortunate for Malayalam films because of the success of several films that are being released in theatres, including Mammootty's Bramayugam, Naslen's Premalu, and Tovino Thomas' Anweshippin Kandethum.
“Manjummel Boys is the best thing that happened in Mollywood, with a superb first half followed by an engaging second half. The Placing of the "Kanmani Anbodu" Song is Just Beyond Goosebumps in the Rescue Portions,” one tweeted. Another wrote, “Take a bow, Chidambaram! What a making!”.
The story of the eleven best friends from Manjummel, Ernakulum, who choose to visit Kodaikanal, is told in Manjummel Boys. The main subject of the film is their friendship and how this trip, along with an unforeseen circumstance, alter their lives. The film is based on the true story of a Malayali youth who fell into Kodaikanal's renowned Guna Caves, also known as Devil's Kitchen.
Babu Shahir, Soubin Shahir, and Shawn Antony have bankrolled the movie under the banner Parava Films. Shyju Khalid has overseen the camera work for this film.
