Manjummel Boys hit theatres on February 22 this year and took the box office by storm both in Kerala and all other southern states. After a little over two months since its theatrical release, the film made its OTT debut now. The film, directed by Chidambaram, is a survival drama starring an ensemble star cast including Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, Balu Varghese, Ganapathi S. Poduval, Lal Jr., Deepak Parambol, Abhiram Radhakrishnan, Arun Kurian, Khalid Rahman and Shebin Benson.

Based on a real incident that took place in 2006, Manjummel Boys is about a group of friends from Kerala who decide to take a trip to Kodaikanal in Tamil Nadu. As they explore the caves which are famously called Gunaa Caves, one of them falls down a deep pit. The rest of the film is about how the group tries to retrieve their friend from the pit. The film earned more than Rs 200 crore and went on to become one of the highest grossing Malayalam films.

More about Manjummel Boys

The Malayalam film shares a connection with the 1991 Tamil film Gunaa starring Kamal Haasan. The film not only shows the boys exploring the Kodaikanal caves which is now called Gunaa Caves after the old film was shot there, but also uses the iconic song Kanmani, in a distinct sense that became one of the major highlights of Manjummel Boys. This also became one of the primary reasons why the Malayalam film resonated with Tamil Nadu audience.

Manjummel Boys' technical crew consists of music by Sushin Shyam with camera cranked by Shyju Khalid. Vivek Harshan has edited the film. The film received positive reviews upon its release, with critiques appreciating the cast’s performances, writing and technical qualities.
