Manjummel Boys, directed by Chidambaram and starring Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, Balu Varghese, Ganapathy and Lal Jr, is an exciting film that is set to release soon. The survival drama is centred on friendships and has already managed to create hype among film fans thanks to its intriguing theme and star cast. The latest from the flm is that its first promo song, Kuthanthram, has been released. Composer Sushin Shyam has collaborated with rapper Vedan on a groovy, hip-hop number.
The Kuthanthram song is on the topic of survival, with the catchy phrase “Kunthanthram thanthram manthram onnum ariyillada, Kudicha kallu kallam onnum parayilada” (Cunning chants and black magic are always a mystery, whisky whispers, what the heart hides). Netizens have given the song a thumbs up, digging its vibe and hailing Sushin and rapper Vedan for the energetic hip-hop number.
Here are some of the reactions for netizens:
According to an earlier report, the survival thriller starring Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, Balu Varghese, Ganapathy and Lal Jr in lead roles is inspired by true events that transpired at a tourist spot in Kodaikanal.
The movie is actually inspired by a young man who fell in the Guna Caves, which are also known as Devil’s Kitchen, in Kodaikanal. Over the years, several tourists have lost their lives after falling into the cave. The cave also served as inspiration for Kamal Haasan’s 1991 hit film Gunaa.
According to director Chidambaram, Manjummel Boys is not a comedy drama like his other film, Jan.E.Man. This is a survival drama that is about friendship. Manjummel Boys also stars Arun Kurian, Abhiram Radhakrishnan, Khalid Rahman, Chandu Salimkumar and Deepak Parambol in supporting roles, and was shot in under 101 days.
The release date of Manjummel Boys is yet to be revealed, but it is expected to hit theatres in mid-2024. Cinematographer Shyju Khalid, editor Vivek Harshan and production designer Ajayan Chalissery are part of the film's technical crew. The film is jointly bankrolled by Soubin Shahir, Babu Shahir and Shawn Antony.
