Manjummel Boys has joined the growing list of Malayalam films that have exceeded box office expectations of the trade after Premalu and Bramayugam. The film has set a new record by breaking the coveted Rs 50 crore at the worldwide box office in within a week after its release.
Manjummel Boys has outperformed other new Malayalam releases this year so far at the box office. It has joined the elite company of the fastest Malayalam films that have reached this box office milestone.

Malayalam superstar Mohanlal's 2019 action drama Lucifer holds the top rank for earning Rs 50 crore in ticket sales in about four days. Meanwhile, Dulquer Salmaan's Kurup and Mammootty's Bheeshma Parvam claim the second and third spots for reaching the Rs 50 crore mark in 5 days and 6 days, respectively. Manjummel Boys shares the fifth spot with Tovino Thomas' 2018.
Manjummel Boys' record-setting box office performance is driven by the interest that it has generated among audiences outside Kerala. The film has caught the imagination of people in Tamil Nadu, where it has emerged as the biggest Malayalam hit in recent years.
Manjummel Boys is defying the trend at the Tamil Nadu box office . Traditionally, critically-well-made Malayalam movies only found takers among the urban crowd in the state and their reach was limited only to multiplex screens. However, Manjummel Boys has managed to penetrate deeper in the state, by founding takers even in the B and C centres.
According to reports, many shows, especially in Chennai, are going houseful for the movie. And the distributors are trying to cash in on the interest of moviegoers by adding more shows.
A few film trade experts have attributed the exceptional performance of Manjummel Boys in Tamil Nadu to its connection with Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan's cult classic Gunaa.
Manjummel Boys is set against the backdrop of Gunaa cave and it has also resonated with the Tamil audience by including the iconic song Kanmani Anbodu in the narrative.
