Manjummel Boys, the recently released Malayalam film starring Sreenath Bhasi and Soubin Shahir, among others, has not only proved to be a success in Kerala, but has also been witnessing a warm welcome across states. While the film is getting released in other languages, the film team is currently enjoying the success of the film.
Tamil actor Vijay Muthu, who played the role of an officer in charge of the rescue operation in the film, recently revealed how he had struggled to get acting opportunities and is thankful to Manjummel Boys director Chidambaram for giving him a much-needed break.
In a recent interview with a YouTube channel, Vijay Muthu teared up and had an emotional breakdown, while being congratulated for the film's success. Visibly choked by his emotions, Vijay Muthu managed to say, "I had the desire to enter cinema since the age of 12 and faced much struggle. I had approached many directors and there is no one Tamil filmmaker to whom I have not asked for a chance. But he (Chidambaram) came from Kerala and offered me the role. I am very grateful."

The actor also said how it took him 32 years to get to the place and faced much struggles in his path. He also said how actors can be easily boxed and typecast into one role. "It is not like we should be only playing rowdy roles. Do we look like that only? In Manjummel Boys, my character might be negative, but there will be a changeover in him and gets a deserving arc. He is the one to decide at a crucial point in the film. I should thank the team of Manjummel Boys. Soubin sir also appreciated my work,” he added.
Manjummel Boys, directed by Chidambaram, is a survival thriller with an underlying theme of friendship. It is based on true events and follows a group of boys from Kerala who take a trip to the famous Gunaa caves. After one of them falls inside a deep cave, the rest of them try to rescue their friend.
The film stars Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, Lal Jr, Ganapathi S. Poduval, Khalid Rahman, and George Mariyan, among others. Opened to critical acclaim and box office success, Manjummel Boys pays a fitting tribute to Kamal Haasan-starrer Gunaa and the song Kanmani Anbodu.
