Several excellent films were released at the start of 2024, including Aattam, which was critically acclaimed for both its thought-provoking story and performances but did not do well commercially at the box office. A significant shift was brought about by the release of Premalu, the Naslen-Mamitha Baiju rom com that became the first Rs 100 crore movie of 2024.
Bramayugam, starring Mammootty and which became an instant hit, came next. The following film, Manjummel Boys, became the highest grossing Malayalam film ever released and got into the Rs 200 crore club. It was succeeded by the commercially successful film Aavesham, starring Fahadh Faasil.
Among the top 25 highest-rated films, Kiran Rao's Laapata Ladies came in fifth. The movie has gotten positive reviews from audiences ever since it was released. It is getting all the praise it deserves for its lovely narrative and superb acting. Amar Singh Chamkila, which featured Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra, is ranked twenty-first. The movie is based on the true story of popular Punjabi musician Amar Singh Chamkila and his wife Amarjot Kaur.
