Manikandan’s Lover 2024 - Here's the release date, trailer, plot, cast, OTT partner and more

Manikandan-starrer Lover, which is gearing up for its release, is helmed by Livin fame director Prabhuram Vyas. The upcoming film, which focusses on complicated relationships, is touted to be a serious film rather than a romantic drama. Modern Love Chennai-fame Sri Gouri Priya is playing the female lead in this romantic film, which also stars Kanna Ravi in a pivotal role.   

Lover trailer - A serious drama with a pinch of romance

Going by the trailer, Arun (played by Manikandan) and Divya (played by Sri Gouri Priya) are a couple who have been in a relationship for over six years. But as time goes by, the relationship hits a roadblock, and the couple face numerous misunderstandings, leading to an uncertain future together. How the couple navigate through the hurdles forms the crux of the story. The trailer might seem like a typical love story, but it hints at the possibility of portraying an even bigger picture about complicated relationships. The trailer takes a realistic approach in portraying the lives of a couple and promises an interesting watch! 

Intriguing yet romantic plot

The story about Arun and Divya’s relationship seems to drift after the arrival of a friend. The film also takes us through Arun’s insecurities of Divya’s new-found friend group. As mentioned by director Prabhu in an earlier interview, the film offers a fresh perspective on toxic relationships as Manikandan takes on the role of a problematic boyfriend who is suspicious about the motives of her male friend, while she accuses him of being extremely insecure and controlling.

Release date - Clash with the Superstar’s film?

 The Manikandan and Sri Gouri Priya-starrer is all set to hit the big screens on February 9. Interestingly, Vishnu Vishal-starrer sports drama Lal Salaam is also set to hit the screens on the same day. Lal Salaam also has Superstar Rajinikanth playing a cameo role. However, if you are in the mood for a romance and loads of drama, then Lover should be your choice this Valentine's Day weekend.  

The Telugu version of the film titled True Lover will be releasing in theatres on February 10.

Cast and crew of Lover

Apart from the lead cast, the film also stars Harish Nagalakshmi Kumar, Saravanan, Geetha Kailasam and Harini Sundararajan in supporting roles. The cinematography for the film is handled by Shreyaas Krishna, while the film is produced by Magesh Raj Pasilian and Yuvaraj Ganesan. 

Lover’s jukebox

Scored by Sean Roldan, the film’s music has already created hype among audiences even before the film’s release. One of the songs from the film named ‘Apple Crumble’ was rendered by none other than actor Siddharth and has already taken over music platforms.

OTT partner for Lover

Although the digital debut of the film has not been announced yet, you can expect the film to be streaming on an OTT platform after a month of its theatrical release.
