Manichitrathazhu re-release teaser is finally out on social media. The Mohanlal-Shobana-Suresh Gopi starrer directed Fazil is slated to hit the theatres on August 17, 2024.

Manichitrathazhu, the psychological horror film directed by Fazil, is one of the most loved films ever produced by the Malayalam film industry. The multi-starrer film, which features Mohanlal, Shobana, and Suresh Gopi in the lead roles, was originally released on December 25, 1993. Now, over 31 years after its release, Manichitrathazhu is set to make a comeback to the theatres, in remastered 4K format, on August 17, 2024. Ahead of the re-release, the makers dropped the Manichitrathazhu re-release teaser on social media, today.
The highly anticipated Manichitrathazhu re-release teaser has been released on social media. The well-cut teaser showcases some of the finest scenes from the film, from legendary actors KPAC Lalitha and Nedumudi Venu narrating Nagavalli’s story and the importance of the closed room to Mohanlal affirming that he is going trap the one who burnt his bags. The spine-chilling background score by veteran musician Johnson and the effective editing has made the re-release teaser a highly exciting visual experience.
The Fazil directorial, scripted by Madhu Muttom revolves around an aristocratic family and their superstitions about the ghost of a Tamil dancer named‘Nagavalli’, entrapped in the ‘Thekkini’ (a room in the Southern corner) of the mysterious Madampalli mansion. Things take a different turn when Nakulan, a family member settled in Calcutta, returns home with his newly-wedded wife Ganga, who allegedly frees Nagavalli’s ghost from the room. Dr. Sunny Joseph, an eccentric yet talented psychologist and best friend of Nakulan, arrives to solve the mystery.
Shobana played Ganga, who embodies the personality of Nagavalli in the film, while Mohanlal and Suresh Gopi played the roles of Dr. Sunny Joseph and Nakulan, respectively. Innocent, KPAC Lalitha, Nedumudi Venu, Thilakan, Kuthiravattam Pappu, Vinaya Prasad, Ganesh Kumar, Sudheesh, Rudra, Kuttyedathi Vilasini, Sridhar, and others played pivotal roles in Manichitrathazhu. Venu, Anandakuttan, and Sunny Joseph handled the cinematography of the movie. Johnson composed the original score, while MG Radhakrishnan composed the songs. The Fazil directorial is bankrolled by the presitigious banner, Swargachitra.
