Malayalam latest film, Mandakini, has made its way to the digital space. The romantic comedy drama, which stars Althaf Salim and Anarkali Marikar in lead roles, is now streaming on Manorama Max, following decent run in theatres across the state.
Mandakini to stream on Manorama Max
The family entertainer made its digital debut on the popular platform from 12 am on July 12. With the current state of the Malayalam industry, Mandakini was expected to be available on platforms following its 40-day theatrical run. People who didn't see this movie in theatres were excited for its digital release. In May, the film made its theatrical debut alongside Mammootty's action drama Turbo and Asif Ali-Biju Menon's investigative thriller, Thalavan. Soon, both films will be available for streaming on SonyLIV.
Mandakini’s good reception in theatres
The film was mainly praised for its simple plot and sticking on to the tag of being a good family entertainer. The movie's trailer and posters made references to the comedy entertainer Mandakini, in which the lead actors played a married couple. The two-minute, seventeen-second video, which was released last month, hinted at the hilarious plot. The wedding night of Aromal (Althaf) and Ambili (Anarkali) marked the beginning of it. When Ambili begins to wonder about her husband's previous relationships, a hilarious story starts.
Aromal, a quiet young man, seems to be tricked by some of his family members on his wedding night and asks Ambili about her previous relationships. The protagonist of Mandakini is a young man who is struggling to prevent the first night of his new marriage from ending badly.
The supporting cast of the movie includes Jeo Baby, Pratish Jacob, Ambili Sunil, Babita Basheer, Guinness Vinod, Ganapathi, Jafar Idukki, Sarita Kuku, Vineet Thattil, Aswathy Srikanth, Kutty Akhil, Akhila Nath, and Ajim Shah. This amusing family drama is directed and written by Vinod Leela. Even though the humour seemed out of place at times, Mandakini's portrayal of male and female characters is equitable, giving each group equal weight.
