Mammootty, the megastar of Malayalam cinema joined hands with Bhoothakaalam fame director Rahul Sadasivan for his recent outing, Bramayugam. The movie, which is a period horror thriller, also features Arjun Ashokan and actor-director Sidharth Bharathan in pivotal roles. The experimental film, which was made in the black-and-white format, has been garnering immense love from both the audiences and critics.
When it completed the first weekend at the theatres, Bramayugam earned the blockbuster status at the box office. Meanwhile, the cine-goers who feel that the Mammootty starrer is a highly layered film that will eventually earn cult classic status, are curious to know if it will even get a Part 2. In a recent interview with Kaumudy Movies, director Rahul Sadasivan addressed the speculations about Bramayugam 2.
Is Bramayugam 2 on cards?
The end portion of Bramayugam has sparked lots of discussion on social media, as the cine-goers feel that the makers left it open-ended, for the audience to interpret. This also sparked speculations on a possible second part of the Mammootty starrer. However, director Rahul Sadasivan, who recently spoke to Kaumudy Movies, confirmed that a Part 2 is not on the cards for the project, so far. However, the talented filmmaker admitted there are chances for a sequel to happen in the future.

According to director Rahul Sadasivan, Bramayugam was planned as an independent film, right from the beginning. But the ending, indeed, is left for interpretation. Even though there are possibilities for a second part, there are no concrete ideas or plans, so far. Interestingly, the filmmaker added that he has put all his energy into the Mammootty starrer and is done with the project right now. But things can change in future if the team succeeds in cracking an exciting idea in future.
Bramayugam on OTT
The period horror film, which features Mammootty in the role of Kudamon Potti, is now running successfully at the theatres. The OTT rights of the movie have been bagged by the renowned streaming platform Sony LIV. As per the recent reports, Bramayugam is expected to get its OTT release in the platform, in March 2024. The makers are expected to officially announce the OTT release date when the movie nears the end of its theatrical run.
