Mammootty’s Bheeshma Parvam has provided the much-needed impetus to Kerala theatres, which had taken a beating during the pandemic, with frequent lockdowns and theatres operating at only half the capacity. The Amal Neerad directorial, which had the best opening for a Mammootty-starrer ever on its first day itself, continued its victorious run over the weekend.
According to reports, the movie breached the Rs 25 Cr record on Sunday, with almost all theatres screening the film running to packed houses. The film had collected almost Rs 6Cr on its opening day itself. Considering that it released during the pandemic with other films such as Tovino Thomas’ Naradan, Dulquer Salmaan’s Hey Sinamika and Robert Pattinson’s The Batman, the feat is impressive.
In Kerala alone, the movie is reported to have grossed over Rs 21 Cr surpassing the four-day record of Baahubali: The Conclusion and Mohanlal’s Lucifer , which stood at Rs 21 Cr and Rs 20 Cr, respectively. The movie is estimated to have fetched a total of above Rs 3Cr from other countries. In the Middle East alone, Bheeshma Parvam had released in 158 theatres, a record for a Malayalam film.

The film is yet to be released in the US, UK, Australia and New Zealand – all revenue generation centres for Malayalam films these days. We hear that Bheeshma Parvam’s overseas rights for Australia and New Zealand have also been sold at a record price. The film is expected to get a release on March 10.
Considering the positive reviews and the hype of Amal-Mammootty film after Big B, Bheeshma Parvam is well on track to be the megastar’s highest grossing film ever, surpassing Madhuraraja and Mamangam. If it continues this run, it could also breach the Rs 100 Cr mark, making it the first ever Mammootty film to achieve that landmark.
Bheeshma Parvam also has Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, Shine Tom Chacko, Veena Nandakumar, Srinda, Nadiya Moidu and Sudev Nair.
