Suresh Gopi, the action superstar of Malayalam cinema is currently on a high after winning his massive victory at the Parliament elections. However, the actor-politician, who was recently elected as the MP of Thrissur constituency in Kerala, has no plans to take a break from his first love, cinema. In a recent media interaction, Suresh Gopi confirmed that he is teaming up with megastar Mammootty and the latter’s home banner Mammootty Kampany, for his next outing in Malayalam cinema.

As per the reports, Mammootty and Suresh Gopi’s highly anticipated upcoming project is expected to go on floors in August 2024. Even though the makers have not officially announced the project, it has been confirmed that the actor-MP and the megastar are not teaming up for the sequel of Turbo, the recently released Vysakh film. If the recent updates are to be believed, The King And The Commissioner co-stars are set to reunite after a long gap of 12 years, for the upcoming social thriller directed by actor-director Mahesh Narayanan.
Suresh Gopi and Mammootty in Mahesh Narayanan’s thriller franchise?
If the reports are to be believed, the upcoming Mahesh Narayanan directorial, which is a multi-starrer, is being made as a thriller franchise. Along with Mammootty and Suresh Gopi, the most awaited project also features Fahadh Faasil and Kunchacko Boban, in pivotal roles. According to the grapevine, the untitled movie franchise will have more installments, featuring all the four stars in the lead roles, in the future. The project is reportedly bankrolled by Mammootty Kampany, and another leading production banner of the Malayalam film industry.

As you may know, Mammootty and Suresh Gopi previously shared the screen in The King and The Commissioner, the political action thriller directed by Shaji Kailas. The movie, which is penned by Renji Panicker, is a crossover sequel to the duo’s blockbuster films, The King and The Commissioner. Mammootty played the role of Joseph Alex IAS in the film, which features Suresh Gopi as Bharath Chandran IPS. You can watch the film on OTT in the leading streaming platforms Disney+ Hotstar, Manorama Max, and OTTplay Premium.
Before The King and The Commissioner, Mammootty and Suresh Gopi shared the screen in Twenty: 20, the mega multistarrer of the Malayalam film industry, which is produced by the actors’ association, A.M.M.A. The project directed by senior filmmaker Joshiy featured the megastar in the role of Adv. Ramesh Nambiar, while the action superstar appeared as SP Antony Punnekkadan IPS. Twenty: 20 is now available for streaming on Sun NXT and OTTplay Premium.
