Malayalam megastar Mammootty seems to have come out all guns blazing, literally, after his break from the pandemic. Even as his movie Bheeshma Parvam is creating new box office records in Malayalam, the veteran star is all set to resume shooting for Akhil Akkineni’s Agent .
Mammootty had last year shot a few portions of the film, which is directed by Surender Reddy, in Budapest. The makers have now unveiled a new poster featuring the megastar in his army avatar with the nickname The Devil along with the tagline ‘Ruthless Saviour’.
It’s still unclear if Mammootty plays the antagonist in the movie or will be the mentor of Akhil’s character in the big budget actioner, scripted by Vakkantham Vamsi and also starring debutante Sakshi Vaidya. The film will mark Mammootty’s comeback to Telugu after last starring in Yatra, which was the biopic of YS Rajasekhara Reddy and was directed by Mahi V Raghav.
The team of Agent began their latest schedule on Monday and Mammootty will also be part of it. While it was earlier rumoured that the megastar was doing an extended cameo, it now seems that Mammootty will play a “full-length and significant” role in the movie.
The actor, meanwhile, has just completed his portion in K Madhu’s CBI 5: The Brian, which will have him reprising the role of CBI officer Sethurama Iyer for the fifth time in the franchise. The actor has also completed shooting for Ratheena Sharshad’s Puzhu and Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakam.
His latest release, Bheeshma Parvam, which marked his second collaboration with Amal Neerad received largely favourable reviews and has set the Kerala box office on fire, raking in almost Rs 25 crore over the weekend. The movie is on track to being the highest grosser of the star and could well land him in the Rs 100 Cr club.
