In Malayalam, police roles are synonymous with Mammootty as no other actor has arguably had as many hits, donning the khaki and boots. In his upcoming movie Christopher, Mammootty will once again be seen playing a police officer.

In a recent press meet ahead of the film’s release on February 9, Mammootty opened up about his role in the B Unnikrishnan directorial, which is scripted by Udaykrishna.

“Christopher is a police character but you won't be seeing me wearing the attire too often,” said Mammootty. “I have played a lot of police roles and I have tried to make each of them different as every cop has a mind of his own and a unique perspective. That's what I have tapped into while portraying these characters. Christopher in this film too has his own story and journey. There are different powers standing against him and several challenges too. All of them come and go in this movie.”

The megastar, who incidentally also plays a cop in his current movie titled Kannur Squad, also said that Christopher highlights the events that happen as part of his work, while also telling the personal side of his story. “The movie shows several phases of my character's life,” revealed the actor, saying that Sneha plays the character of his wife in the film, while Aishwarya Lekshmi essays the role of girl “who is like a daughter to him”.

Apart from Sneha and Aishwarya Lekshmi, the movie also has Amala Paul and Aditi Ravi in pivotal roles. “Women characters in the movie have a lot of prominence in the story. The film is about assaults faced by women and its defense,” said Mammootty.

Dileesh Pothan, Shine Tom Chacko, Jinu Joseph and Vinay Rai are also part of the movie, which marks B Unnikrishnan’s second collaboration with Mammootty after Pramani.
