Kaathal – The Core, an upcoming family drama film starring Jyothika and Mammootty, seems to be facing difficulties regarding its release. Initially scheduled to be released in the theatres in May, it was postponed for unknown reasons. Then, there were rumours circulating about the film to be a direct OTT release, with JioCinema obtaining its digital rights. Now, Mammootty has revealed another update about the film’s release.
“Kaathal - The Core will be released soon. We have pushed the release due to recent big releases like Jailer. It is a small film, and we are waiting for the right time,” Mammootty told Asianet News. The movie is directed by Jeo Baby.
Speaking about the film’s theme, the actor said that even though it is a family drama, the incidents happening in the family are a novelty and are not like the usual family dramas that viewers have seen.
Meanwhile, a source close to the director recently said that the final decision regarding the film’s OTT release was supposed to be made by July 20. But as of now, the release date has not been confirmed. While promoting his latest film Kannur Squad, Mammootty stated that digital platforms only acquire the rights to a movie after its theatrical release. He also said that currently films are not made with the intention of being streamed on digital platforms.
