Mammootty announces Kannur Squad's trailer release date

Mammootty's investigation drama Kannur Squad, directed by debutant Roby Varghese Raj, is slated to hit theatres on September 28. The makers have released a couple of posters for the film so far. According to the latest updates, the trailer for the film will be released on September 7 at 6 pm. Mammootty took to his twitter handle to share a poster and the release date of the trailer. The date coincides with Mammootty's birthday. There are also rumours that the trailer will be screened along with Shah Rukh Khan's Jawaan, which will be released tomorrow. The release of Kannur Squad was reportedly scheduled for October. However, due to the delayed releases of big films like Salaar, the makers of the Mammootty starrer have changed the release date.

Kannur Squad's cast and crew

Kannur Squad is helmed by cinematographer Roby Varghese Raj, who has cranked the camera for The Great Father, Vellam, and Love Action Drama. Along with Mammootty, the film stars Shabareesh Varma, Rony David, Azeez Nedumangad, Vijayaraghavan, and Deepak Parambol. Rony David has co-scripted the movie with Mohammed Shafi.

Bankrolled by Mammootty Kampany, Kannur Squad is also shot in locations outside Kerala, like Maharashtra. The technical team consists of Praveen Prabhakar as the editor and Mohammed Rahil as the cinematographer.

Kannur Squad is an investigation drama

Kannur Squad is a cop drama that revolves around an investigation. Mammootty plays a police officer who leads an investigation team that specialises in tracking habitual offenders. The plot of the film has similarities to H Vinoth's Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru, which was a big hit. Rajeev Ravi's recent Kuttavum Shikshayum also had a similar plot to Kannur Squad.

Mammootty's upcoming projects

One of the upcoming releases by the Rorschach actor is Kaathal - The Core, which also marks the comeback of actress Jyothika. The film's release has not been decided yet, and according to reports, It will be a direct OTT release .

Mammootty is currently filming the horror movie by Rahul Sadasivan. The movie is titled Bramayugam and will be a pan-India release, acco rding to the producers, YNOT Studios. Along with Mammootty, Arjun Ashokan also plays a pivotal role in the film.
