Mammootty, the megastar of Malayalam cinema, is going through the golden phase of his 5-decades-long acting career, with back-to-back critical and commercial success. Prithviraj Sukumaran, on the other hand, just delivered the biggest blockbuster of his acting career with Aadujeevitham, the survival drama helmed by Blessy. If the latest reports are to be believed, Mammootty and Prithviraj are now set to share the screen yet again, after a long gap of 14 years.
According to the grapevine, the veteran actor and multi-faceted talent are all set to reunite soon, for an upcoming action thriller. If the reports are to be believed, the untitled project, which is expected to have its official launch very soon, is helmed by a newcomer who has earlier served as an associate of a popular filmmaker. Some unconfirmed reports also suggest that the project features Mammootty as the protagonist, while Prithviraj Sukumaran is said to be playing a negative role. However, none of these reports have been officially confirmed yet.
For the uninitiated, the megastar and actor-filmmaker shared the screen for the last time in Pokkiri Raja, the Vysakh directorial that hit the theatres in 2010. Even though Prithviraj later made a cameo appearance in Mammootty’s Munnariyippu, the duo had no combination scenes in the film. In between, Amal Neerad was planning to direct a period action film titled ‘Arivaal Chuttika Nakshathram’ with the megastar and the Aadujeevitham actor as the hero and villain, respectively. However, the ambitious project was dropped eventually due to its massive scale and budget.

The megastar, who was last seen in the blockbuster period horror film Bramayugam, is set to have two back-to-back releases with Turbo and Bazooka. Mammootty is now all set to kickstart the shooting of his first outing with editor-director Mahesh Narayanan, very soon. Later, Kaathal The Core actor is also set to reunite with Amal Neerad for a stylish action flick.
Prithviraj Sukumaran, who is now on a high with the massive success of Aadujeevitham, will be next seen in the upcoming comedy entertainer Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil. The actor-filmmaker is now busy with the Chennai schedule of his third directorial venture, L2 Empuraan. After wrapping up the same, Prithviraj is expected to finish the pending portions of his other ambitious project, Vilayath Buddha.
