“Your wait will be answered very soon,” wrote director K Madhu, in his latest social media post with working stills from Mammootty’s CBI 5: The Brain. The movie, which has been in the making for over two years now, had completed its shooting earlier this month and is now gearing up for release.
While it was earlier rumoured that the movie will hit theatres on April 28 as an Eid release, it now seems that the makers have advanced the date. A source from the film’s team says that the team is looking at an April 7 release for the fifth film in the CBI Sethurama Iyer franchise.
Both Mammootty and Madhu too shared new stills from the movie, with the megastar reprising his iconic role that first appeared on the screen 34 years ago. The upcoming film will also have Mukesh and Jagathy Sreekumar reprising their roles as Chacko and Vikram, respectively.
The new cast members of the film include Renji Panicker, Saikumar, Ramesh Pisharody, Soubin Shahir, Kaniha, Asha Sharath and Dileesh Pothan, who will be playing Kerala chief minister in CBI 5: The Brain. The makers will be hoping that the movie would benefit from the momentum of Mammootty’s previous release Bheeshma Parvam, which has become his highest grosser ever, collecting more then Rs 80 Cr worldwide, according to reports.
Mammootty, meanwhile, will also have another release in the last week of March or April, with Puzhu set to drop on OTT soon. The film, directed by debutant Ratheena PT, is an intense family thriller in which the megastar will be seen playing a role with a negative shade. Puzhu also has Parvathy Thiruvothu as part of the cast.
The megastar has also completed shooting for Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakam and Surender Reddy’s Telugu action-thriller Agent, starring Akhil Akkineni.
