Malli Pelli, the controversial relationship drama, starring Naresh, Pavitra Lokesh in lead roles, was written and directed by well known producer MS Raju. The film was produced by Naresh under Vijaya Krishna Movies and released in theatres across Telugu states on May 26. The Kannada version titled Matthe Madhuve hit screens earlier this month. The film is now streaming on OTT .

The post-theatrical streaming rights of Malli Pelli were acquired by two leading OTT platforms - Amazon Prime Video and aha. However, much to the disappointment of streaming enthusiasts, the Telugu version of the drama premiered only aha the previous night. Prime Video is yet to state the reason behind delaying its OTT premiere on the streamer.

Vanitha Vijaykumar, Ananya Nagalla, Roshan, Ravi Varma, Annapoorna, Bhadram, Yukta, Praveen Yandamuri, and Madhooo essayed other important roles in the Kannada-Telugu bilingual. Suresh Bobbili and Aruldev worked on the music score of the film. MN Bal Reddy cranked the camera for the drama and Junaid Siddique was the editor. Bhaskar Mudavath was the production designer.

The story revolves around two middle-aged actors - Narendra and Pavithra who find love while going through troubled, toxic marriages and weather all the storms that come in their way. The film hogged the limelight for the wrong reasons when actor-producer Naresh’s former wife Ramya Raghupathi alleged that the project was an attempt to defame her.

The film surprisingly earned good reviews upon its theatrical release though it didn’t perform exceedingly well at the ticket window. Naresh was seen in two other popular releases this summer - the family entertainer Anni Manchi Sakunamule and the rural drama Intinti Ramayanam, now streaming on Amazon Prime Video and aha respectively.
