The second trailer of Mahesh Narayanan’s political thriller Malik, which released today, promises a tour-de-force performance from its lead actor Fahadh Faasil. The movie, which is set to drop on July 15 on Amazon Prime Video, is the most expensive movie in the Malayalam star’s career.
Fahadh plays Sulaiman Malik, a leader who provides his coastal community the support to stand up against the corrupt forces and greedy agenda. In a press statement from Amazon Prime Video, Fahadh said, “The storyline of Malik is truly very special to me and we have put our heart and soul into making this film.”
The film has him playing Sulaiman from the age of 20 to 57, in four phases of his life. It’s also the first time that Fahadh is essaying a character that is older than his real self. The big-budget film was initially set to hit theatres in April 2020 but was postponed to May 13 this year. The second wave of COVID-19 forced the makers to opt for an OTT release.
This is the second time Mahesh Narayanan and Fahadh’s film is releasing on Amazon Prime Video. Last year, their screen-based thriller C U Soon dropped on the streamer. Fahadh’s Joji is also currently streaming on the OTT platform.
Apart from Fahadh, Malik also has Nimisha Sajayan, Joju George, Vinay Forrt and Dileesh Pothan in pivotal roles. In the same statement shared by Amazon Prime Video, Nimisha said that the film has “a very unconventional and unique narrative” that spans from the 60s to the current era and was “quite challenging for me to perform”.
