Malayalam's latest film, Malayalee From India, is all set to make its digital debut soon. The Indo-Pakistani movie, which stars Nivin Pauly and Dhyan Sreenivasan in prominent roles, will be available for streaming on SonyLIV from July 5. Apart from Malayalam, the film will be accessible in Telugu, Tamil and Kannada as well.

Those who missed the film on the big screen are eager for its digital release, despite the film's dismal box office and theatrical performance. Regarding the actors’ performances and storyline, viewers are expected to provide more opinions after the OTT release.

It is reasonable to assume that the film's underwhelming box office performance and the conflicting reviews it received following its theatrical release are what led to the OTT release's delay. Varshangalkku Shesham, the other most recent film starring Nivin Pauly and Dhyan Sreenivasan, was made available for streaming on the same OTT platform on June 6. When it made its digital premiere, this movie got a mixed reception.

Reasons to watch Malayalee From India

The film centres on the idle Aalparambil Gopi, whose life revolves around politics and cricket, as he inadvertently gets entangled in a contentious issue in his hometown by means of his best friend. His life is completely turned upside down, and he is forced to confront his own illogical prejudices while forging stronger bonds with others.

The review on OTTplay describes Malayalee From India as a dramatic and humorous satire of the current socio-political climate that is at times poignant and enjoyable. The movie did a great job of explaining why people should stay away from divisive politics and should never fall for a con. Rather than using harsh discussion, the central theme—that divisive politics easily wins over innocent people—is communicated through relatable everyday situations. The film is still worth seeing for its comedy and subject matter even though it failed to break any records at the box office or draw big crowds to the theatre.
