After a couple of underwhelming weeks, Malayalam cinema is all set to bounce back in the OTT space, with back-to-back releases this week (December 8 to December 14, 2024). Some of the most loved Malayalam films which hit the theatres in the last few months, are gearing up for their grand OTT releases this month, starting from this week. The list includes Amal Neerad’s Bougainvillea, Manju Warrier starrer Ayisha, and more.
Latest Malayalam OTT releases (December 2 to December 8, 2024)
Bougainvillea on Sony LIV
The mystery thriller film directed by Amal Neerad, had its theatrical release in October 2024. Bougainvillea, which features Kunchacko Boban and Jyothirmayi in the lead roles and Fahadh Faasil in an extended cameo appearance, is finally gearing up to have its OTT release on Sony LIV. The movie will stream on the popular platform in five languages, including Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi, on December 13, 2024. The movie will also be available for streaming on OTT Play Premium.
Ayisha on Manorama Max
The Malayalam biographical film which features Manju Warrier in the lead role, was originally released in the theatres in January 2023. After multiple delays due to undisclosed reasons, Ayisha has finally had its OTT release on popular OTT platform Manorama Max, on December 8, 2024. The movie, which is available only in Malayalam, can be watched on OTT Play Premium as well.
Kanguva (Malayalam) on Prime Video
The period fantasy film, which marked the first collaboration of popular actor Suriya and filmmaker Siva, hit the theatres in November 2024. Kanguva, which hit the theatres with a massive pre-release hype, failed to meet the expectations of audiences and ended up as one of the biggest commercial disasters ever produced by the Tamil film industry. The film had its OTT release on Amazon Prime Video within a month of its release, and is now streaming on five languages, including Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi.
