As we all know Malaika was married to actor Arbaaz Khan for 19 years, in a recent interview, she opened up about an article where it was mentioned that she can afford to wear expensive outfits because of "fat alimony."

In an interview with Pinkvilla, Malaika Arora got candid about her life, her divorce, and how her hard work goes down the drain because of such remarks which are not true. Recalling the time when she was horrified reading an article that stated, 'Clearly she can afford it because she got a fat alimony', Malaika said that she was aghast. She said, "I was in shock. Whatever you have done in life, whatever level, it makes no difference. Because at the end of the day, you can be whatever you are because you got alimony. There is no value of your value and network, it's all gone down the drain because some ridiculous jerk somewhere says I'm living off some fictitious alimony."

The actress also opened up about why she decided to take the divorce route with Arbaaz Khan. She said that by the time she got the divorce, there were not many women in the film industry who had divorced and moved on.
She said, "Everybody said, 'Suddenly she decided that she wants to divorce'. But no, I felt, for me, for my personal growth, my choice, I needed to feel okay within if I had to move on, make my kid happy, and make my kid flourish in his space. So, that’s what I did."
Malaika's recent statements about her lifestyle and her lavish wardrobe have been credited to alimony by a part of the netizens and it clearly shows the challenges women face when their lives get sensationalized. Due to the baseless rumors, the empowering stories of women go in vain and that's what has been highlighted by the actress. However, her statements giving it back to the societal judgment prove that she won't let her real struggles and truth perish.
