Thangalaan, the upcoming film starring Vikram in the lead role, is all set to hit the big screen on August 15. The film, written and directed by filmmaker Pa Ranjith, is one of the most eagerly awaited Tamil films, which has been awaited by scores of fans for a long time. Now, there is a new update from the film: about its audio launch.

The makers of Thangalaan are preparing for the release of the film on Independence Day (August 15). The latest update is that the team is planning to host a grand audio launch event on August 2 in Chennai, closer to the release of the movie. The whole cast and crew of the film are expected to be in attendance at the event. The programme is expected to feature the speeches of the actors and technicians involved as well.

Touted to be a period action drama, Thangalaan is headlined by Vikram and is helmed by filmmaker Ranjith, marking his first collaboration with the actors. Actors Pasupathy, Malavika Mohanan, Parvathy Thiruvothu, Hari Krishnan and others are also part of the film’s cast. Thangalaan is backed by Studio Green, Jio Studios, and Neelam Productions banners jointly.

Thangalaan is expected to be a hard-hitting action drama set during the British colonial era. The film revolves around a group of tribals who a British officer sources to find gold in the Kolar Gold Fields. The post-theatrical streaming rights of the film are secured by Netflix.

The film has completed censor formalities and received U/A certificate. GV Prakash has scored the music, with Tamil Prabha as the co-writer. Cinematographer Kishor Kumar is cranking the camera and Selva RK has handled the edits. The film was shot in different locales, including Chennai, Andhra Pradesh, Madurai and Karnataka. Thangalaan will have releases in Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi.

The film will clash at the box office with Keerthy Suresh-starrer Raghu Thatha, Prashanth’s Andhagan and horror thriller Demonte Colony 2.
