The makers of the Malayalam film, Malikappuram, are teaming up for their next project soon. In an event held in Kochi, they announced the title of their next film, Sumathi Valavu. The film is expected to be released by the end of this year. Further details about the project are anticipated in the coming days.

Saiju Kurup and Arjun Ashokan are playing the lead roles in this movie, which is touted to have horror elements. It is also assumed that the film is loosely based on the real story of the infamous place in Trivandrum, Sumathi Valavu. Malikappuram-fame Devanandha, Sreepathyan, Malavika Manoj, Shyam Mohan, Niranj Maniyanpillai, Jean Lal, and Gopika Anil are among the supporting cast of the film.

Vishnu Sasi Shankar is directing this film, which is bankrolled by Murali Kunnumpurath under the banner of Waterman Films LLP. Abhilash Pillai has penned the screenplay for the movie. Dineshkumar Purushothaman is the cinematographer. Ranjin Raj is composing the soundtracks for the movie.

What is the real story behind Sumathi Valavu?

Sumathi, a pregnant lady who was brutally murdered in 1953 by her lover. It was thought that her ghost still around on the path, which is known as the Sumathi Valavu, where she met her tragic end. The locals' got scared as rumours of a female figure disturbing the area and the travellers started to spread like a wildfire.

This creepy story served as a warning to people who dared to travel Sumathi Valavu Road at night for many years. Numerous people reported seeing the ghostly form, which they described as a pale, supernatural figure that materialised out of nowhere in the dark, frightening anyone who saw it. Few people dared to visit Sumathi Valavu after sunset due to rumours of strange sounds, haunting occurrences, and unfathomable events circulated by travellers. On the other hand, some believe it is a cunning strategy used by criminals to commit robberies and other illegal activities.
