Major OTT release date: When and where to watch Sandeep Unnikrishnan’s biopic starring Adivi Sesh, Saiee Manjrekar, Sobhita Dhulipala

Major, the biopic of army man Sandeep Unnikrishnan, stars Adivi Sesh, Saiee Manjrekar, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prakash Raj, Revathi, Murli Sharma in key roles. The film, that hit theatres in Telugu, Hindi and Malayalam on June 3, is directed by Sashi Kiran Tikka and produced jointly by Mahesh Babu’s GMB Entertainment, A+S Movies and Sony Pictures.

Netflix has bagged the post-theatrical streaming rights of Major in all the languages. One of the film’s producers, Sharath Chandra, has confirmed that the film will have a eight-week window between the theatrical release and the OTT premiere. It’s likely that the film will begin streaming on Netflix in the first half of August.

The film uncovers the story of Sandeep Unnikrishnan from his childhood to the time of his death, capturing his fascination for Arnold Schwarzenegger, the film Commando, his relationship with high-school sweetheart (who turned his wife later) and what compelled him to join the army. The biopic is aimed to be a heartfelt tribute to his valour during the 26/11 blasts.

The film has collected Rs 13.4 crore on the first day across the globe. In the US, it is set to move past the $ 1 million mark shortly. Major, cinematographed by Vamsi Patchipulusu, had music by Sricharan Pakala. As part of the promotional campaign, the makers of Major started screening film previews nearly 10 days before the release.
