Adivi Sesh’s Major is one of the biggest projects that is waiting for a release date this year. The actor has now opened up about the movie postponing the release date, and uses Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi as an example.
Talking about the delay as reported by the Times of India, the actor said, “It doesn’t really worry me too much. It’s clear that Major’s story deserves the right release on the big screen. It’s not an OTT film. Sooryavanshi was delayed by 12-18 months, but the end result is what mattered.”
The movie was supposed to release across the country on February 11, 2022 in Telugu, Hindi and Malayalam, but the makers decided to postpone the release due to the rising COVID-19 cases in the country. The makers also mentioned that the movie will only be released in theatres, once the situation gets better across the country.
Akshay Kumar starrer Sooryavanshi was one of the early movies to release after the theatres in the country reopened. Rohit Shetty’s action movie, which was released on November 5, 2021, was a commercial success.
Major, which is helmed by Sashi Kiran Tikka, is based on the real-life story of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, who was martyred during the November 2008 Mumbai attacks. It is touted to trace the life of the national hero from his childhood to his days in the army and the events of the Mumbai attack.
Produced by Sony Pictures Films India in association with Mahesh Babu's GMB Entertainment and A+S Movies, the movie also features Sobhita Dhulipala, Saiee Manjrekar, Prakash Raj, Revathi and Murli Sharma among others.
