The plot of Maidaan is a real-life story of coach Syed Abdul Rahim who was the leader of his soccer team for 13 years. His resilience and determination to give the Indian football team recognition and make a global mark were unparalleled and the same reflects in the trailer of the film. Ajay Devgn plays the on-screen version of Rahim, and the movie follows the coach as he gives it his all.

Directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma, Maidaan is written by Akaash Chawla, Sidhant Mago, and Saiwyn Quadras. The film is an AR Rahman musical and has Manoj Muntashir on lyrics.
