Mai, a tale of a vengeful mother’s quest for justice, had its OTT premiere yesterday. Sakshi Tanwar stars in her fiercest role yet, as the titular Mai, who will stop at nothing to find answers to uncover what led to her daughter’s death. Seeing Tanwar’s fiery new avatar definitely got fans talking, who took to Twitter to voice their opinion on the show.
Tanwar’s performance seemed to garner unanimous praise from most viewers, who were left in awe at her acting chops. A user said that Tanwar’s performance was so ‘brilliant’, that they couldn't stop watching the show, while another mentioned the actress 'single-handedly carried’ the series. One user went so far as to say that Tanwar deserved an Emmy for her performance.
The show’s writing was another aspect that earned it praise from netizens. A user said that although they thought the series would be something along the lines of Sridevi’s Mom(2017), they were amazed by the show’s well-written characters. Praising Tanwar and Wamiqa Gabbi, another user called the screenplay ‘top notch’.
The series was so loved by some users that they already started anticipating when the second season would drop.

But not everyone was impressed by the show, with one user saying that they felt the show included all the blood and violence to keep the story interesting.
The series also stars Wamiqa Gabbi, Raima Sen, Vivek Mushran, Prashant Narayanan and Seema Pahwa in pivotal roles and is bankrolled under the banner of Clean Slate Filmz. Atul Mongia is the series’ showrunner and has directed a few episodes as well. Mongia has also written the series along with Amita Vyas and Tamal Kumar Sen.
