Mahira Khan to make her Malayalam debut with Mohanlal-Prithviraj Sukumaran’s L2 Empuraan?

Mahira Khan is one of the most popular celebs in the Pakistan entertainment industry. The talented actress made her Bollywood debut with Shah Rukh Khan starrer Raees in 2017. After the Bombay High Court lifted the ban against Pakistani artists, Mahira Khan is now reportedly gearing up to make her Malayalam cinema debut. The grapevine suggests that the actress is in talks for Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran’s L2 Empuraan.

Mahira Khan to play the female lead in L2 Empuraan?

If the latest reports are to be believed, Mahira Khan might make her debut in Malayalam cinema with the highly anticipated project L2 Empuraan. The rumour mills suggest that the actress will play the female lead opposite Mohanlal in the action thriller, which is directed by actor-filmmaker Prithviraj Sukumaran. However, the makers have not reacted to these reports, yet.

For the uninitiated, Mahira Khan and her husband Salim Karim share a warm bond with director Prithviraj Sukumaran and his wife, journalist-producer Supriya Menon. A group picture of both couples with a friend, which was clicked during their Maldives vacation had gone viral on social media handles a couple of months back. So, the netizens suggest that chances are high for Mahira Khan to make her Malayalam cinema entry with the Lucifer sequel.

Mahira Khan’s love for Malayalam cinema

Earlier during one of her interviews, Mahira Khan opened up about her deep admiration for Malayalam cinema. The actress, who advised everyone to start watching Malayalam films, also that she is not talking about the other South industries like Tamil or Telugu. Mahira opined that the industry produces the finest films in terms of content, performances, and making, and also expressed her wish to be a part of it, someday.

About L2 Empuraan

The Prithviraj Sukumaran directorial, which is touted to be both a prequel and sequel to Lucifer, features Mohanlal in the role of Khureshi Ab’Ram aka Stephen Nedumpally. Manju Warrier, Indrajith Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas, Sai Kumar, Baiju Santhosh, Shivaji Guruvayoor, and others are expected to reprise their respective roles from the original, in the upcoming second installment. L2 Empuraan is jointly produced by Aashirvad Cinemas and Lyca Productions.
