Mahat makes his web series debut with Emoji; the rom-com will have a direct release on aha Tamil

Actor Mahat Raghavendra, who was last seen in a cameo in Venkat Prabhu's Silambarasan-starrer Maanaadu (streaming on SonyLIV), has started shooting for his next, titled Emoji. A few working stills of the web series were doing the rounds on social media earlier today. 

Sen S Rangasamy is directing the project which will be shot in Thenkasi, Hyderabad, Kerala and Nagercoil as well. Devika Satheesh plays the female lead in it which has Aadukalam Naren, Priyadarshini Rajkumar and VJ Ashiq among others essaying key characters in it. Jalandhar Vasan has come on board as cinematographer for Emoji while Vanaraj has been roped in as the movie's art director.

RH Vikram and MR Rejeesh are handling music direction and editing for the series respectively. The project revolves around the life of a married couple who decides to part ways after going through a slew of unanticipated challenges.

The makers have announced that Emoji is made as a direct-to-OTT release. The web series will be released on aha Tamil. An announcement on its release date will be made later. A few stills of the cast and crew posing for photos along with Allu Aravind, veteran Tollywood producer and owner of the digital platform, were released by the team.

Emoji is bankrolled by AM Sampath Kumar, who worked as the creative director for Ramana, Dheena and Ghajini (Hindi). He has also produced Iruvar Ondranaal and Porkalam.

Though Mahat was seen in Zee5 original film, Madras Meter Show, which released in 2019, it was a cameo. Emoji is his first full-fledged OTT debut in an acting career that spans a decade-and-a-half. Kaadhal Conditions Apply and Kettavanu Per Edutha Nallavanda are a few films he has in his kitty.
